Hey!
I just wanted to wrote a quick post because I only have 7 more minutes on the computer...and the letters on the keys on this keyboard are missing so I am having flashbacks of freshman typing. Ok, yesterday I went into the city for the first time (my hostel is in a suburb called Hammersmith) and it was AMAZING!! I took the subway to Westminster and came out of the tube facing the Parliament building. It was so big and so guarded...thanks Obama. Everytime I took a picture I felt like someone was looking at me weird. But then I walked into a park right behind the building and it was so quiet and lovely. The park ran along the Thames all the way down to a bridge which I then used to cross over the Thames. On the other side I had a latte in a cafe with views of the London Eye, which is way bigger then you can even imagine. After some coffee I walked back across the bridge to Westminster Abbey to take the tour. It was seriously one of the most amazing places I have ever been!! It was such an experience to touch and feel a place that was built over 1000 years ago. They don't allow you to take pictures which is good because if they did then I would have been in there for like 10 hours and even if you could take pictures there would be not way to capture the sense of history that you feel walking through the various halls and chapels. The Abbey also houses the "oldest garden in England" which was really beautiful and peaceful. The Priests and their families (Church of England) live with their families on the edge of the garden...can you imagine growing up playing in the halls of Westminster Abbey?? Towards the end of the tour Jeremy Irons, the actor who is the audio tour guide, invites you to light a candle and pray at the alter. That was cool! I know that God is with me where ever I go, but I feel like he might have heard me a little better in a place like that :)
More to come......
