10 days and 9 hours to go!!! I thought it was about time to get this whole travel blog thing up and running. Hopefully, (fingers crossed) I will remember to blog while on the trip to keep everyone updated!! Of course when I say "everyone" I mean Colleen, who is most likely the only person who will ever read this blog. Ok! So here is the detailed plan:
April 1st-April 4th: London!! I am staying at the Globetrotters Inn, which is a really great hostel just outside the city center. I know I won't be able to see everything but I would love to see Westminster Abbey, Notting Hill (mostly because of the movie), The London Eye, The London Bridge, Parliament, all the good sites!!!
April 5th-April 8th: Edinburgh, Scotland!! I was going to skip Edinburgh originally but every travel blog I came across raved about its unique beauty and charm, so eventually I caved and booked a flight from London to Edinburgh. I really glad I did because I found a great hostel (Smart City Hostel) in an amazing location near Calton Hill.
April 8th-April 14th: Dublin, Ireland!! I fly into Dublin at 11pm the night of the 8th...I think I will opt for a taxi instead of the bus at this hour. My friend Katie, who is spending a semester
April 15th-April 18th: Paris, France!! I fly into Paris early on the morning of the 15th with plenty of time to navigate the Parisian subway system. My hostel (Oops Hostel) is located on the edge of the Latin Quarter, a few steps from the subway with direct lines to the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, and the Louve.
April 18th-April 19th: Milan, Italy!! I fly into Milan late on the 18th and leave in the early morning of the 20th. I am really only in Milan for one day and I decided to spend most of that day outside the city. I will be going non-stop from the 1st to the 18th so I am spending the one day I have in Milan...in Lake Como, relaxing. A train leaves from the center of Milan and heads north to Varenna once an hour. Varenna (click for picture), which is stunning, offers a ferry that crosses Lake Como and arrives in Bellagio which is equally stunning (thats right, the hotel in Vegas is named after this town)! If I have time the evening of the 19th I will try to get into the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which happens to be the home of The Last Supper painting.
April 20th-April 22nd: Florence, Italy!! The morning of the 20th I hop on a train for Florence. As I mentioned above, my friend Katie is in Florence for the semester and has agreed to let me crash on her couch for three nights. I am not really making any plans for these days because Katie has promised to show me the best Florence has to offer! I'm excited!!
April 23rd-April 25th: Rome, Italy!! I think that Rome is going to be the craziest part of my trip...I mean how do you explore ROME in three days?? A few sites on my list are: The Collosseum, Piazza Navona, the Basilica and other Vatican related sites....and so many more.
April 25th-April 27th: London, England!! After the craziness that I imagine Rome will be, I am looking forward to a nice, relaxing end to my month long trip. I am not planning anything for my last two days besides sleep!!! And then the morning of the 27th I

I can't believe you're leaving in a week! You're going to have an awesome time! Can't wait to hear all about it.
While in Lake Como, you should see if George Clooney is around and you guys could go grab dinner together... you have a lot in common. He's an American, you're an American. He was in that move Ocean's 11, I'm sure you've seen Ocean's 11. You know, stuff like that.
Have a blast!
Nice plans, Cynthia. Have fun, Mom
I feel special because I actually know where one of those places is--- Lake Como. My good friend, Rick Steves, he told me all about that place. Very beautiful. If you see him, tell him hello for me.
I hope you can post some pictures! Oh, and staying at a hostel named Oops... are you sure that was a good choice??

At least 90 people are believed dead and tens of thousands homeless after an earthquake hit L'Aquila and other towns in central Italy, rescuers say.
About 1,500 people were injured and many people are still missing as rescuers search desperately for survivors trapped beneath rubble.
The 6.3-magnitude quake struck at 0330 (0130 GMT) close to L'Aquila.
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who is in the city, has promised a "record number of rescuers".
"Nobody has been left on their own," he said, adding that a field hospital was being set up to help local medical services. Earlier, he declared a state of emergency.
Altogether, 26 cities and towns have been damaged, officials say. In L'Aquila, 95km (60 miles) north-east of Rome, between 3,000 and 10,000 buildings in the medieval city may have been damaged.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 people are believed to have lost their homes and the authorities are working to find them shelter before nightfall.
The BBC's Duncan Kennedy in L'Aquila described bemused and confused locals wrapped in blankets and carrying their personal belongings in suitcases walking, like a stream of refugees, through the devastation.
The rescue service is stretched to breaking point as it tries to reach all the devastated buildings and deal with the mounting casualty toll, our correspondent adds.
State of emergency
Earlier, the mayor of L'Aquila, Massimo Cialente, said some 100,000 people had left their homes.
